MEET THE TEAM

Hallie Shafer

Hallie is the designer behind the wheel of She Ceramics. She has a BFA with a concentration in Ceramics from Clemson University.

After spending five years teaching elementary art, Hallie left public school and opened her own — Broad Studios Club House, an educational ceramics studio. And when she’s not teaching or helping manage the studio, Hallie spends her time packing as much life as possible into basic everyday objects. She works the surfaces of her pieces over several times, combining painting, underglaze pencil drawings, screen printing, and gold luster to evoke a sense of immediacy from an otherwise slow and methodical process.

Genna Williams

Genna is a multidisciplinary designer of minimal, functional ceramics.

She graduated from the Savannah College of Art & Design in 2014 with a degree in Furniture Design. After graduation, Genna moved to Austin and started building her very own ceramics studio as an escape from her hum-drum day job. She uses her extensive experience in home furnishings, lighting, and furniture to inspire her sleek ceramic forms.

In 2021, Genna also co-founded Broad Studios Club House, an educational ceramics studio, where she teaches wheel throwing and hand building classes to students of all experience levels.

Elyssa Gonzalez

Elyssa is the studio manager for Broad Studios Club House. Before the Club House, she focused her creative energy on hand fabricated jewelry. Elyssa earned her degree in Metalsmithing and Jewelry at the University of North Texas. If you don’t see her at the studio she is most likely at Zilker Park with her two dogs and partner, Clay. Yes, her life is all about clay :)

Katie S.

Hope Hummingbird is a ceramicist and street artist from Philadelphia, where she began hanging blue-and-white porcelain tiles throughout the city to spread a sense of hope and community. Hope addresses current societal movements by displaying portraits of historical people whose stories of strength and resilience are still relevant today.

Hope’s work has been displayed at the Philadelphia International Airport for the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and the Visit Philly City of Sisterly Love Campaign celebrating Women’s History Month. Hope has also participated in the Mural Arts Artists in Conversation program as a guest speaker and has taught as a guest artist for the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In Austin, she teaches ceramics at Broad Studio Clubhouse and Dougherty Art Center. Hope teaches and collaborates with The Mosaic Workshop at Something Cool Studios. Her work can be found in East Austin with the Walls Unite project with Raasin in the Sun and in the upcoming Book ATX Urban Art.

KATIE FOX

Katie is one of our exceptional wheel throwing instructors. In addition to teaching at the Club House, Katie also works in specialty coffee around Austin and owns her own small business making ceramics: Fox Pots. You might have seen her work around town at places like Tiny Grocer!

Katie’s a gem - a talented ceramic artist, instructor, and entrepreneur whose humor and dedication to her student’s success truly enrich the studio community. Take a class with her and see what she’s all about!

Olivia Pierce

Olivia Hees is a dynamic and versatile artist with an innate ability to master any artistic medium she sets her mind to. As the Coil Building Instructor and Studio Assistant, she brings her passion for the arts and her creative expertise to the studio, where her enthusiasm and adaptability shine.

Olivia is a recent graduate of the University of Texas, where she earned a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree. Her academic background is a testament to her commitment to the arts, and it's where she honed her skills and cultivated a deep appreciation for creativity.

In her dual role as Coil Building Instructor and Studio Assistant, Olivia plays a pivotal part in the studio's day-to-day operations. Her responsibilities extend from leading engaging and informative classes on coil building to handling essential studio tasks, including kiln loading and unloading, glaze mixing, and clay reclaim.

Beyond the studio, Olivia is an adventurer at heart and enjoys a wide array of outdoor activities from sand volleyball to wilderness backpacking.

Myki Timlin

Myki Timlin is a Colorado native whose passion for adventure and love of pancakes is matched only by her dedication to the art of pottery. Myki joined our team in July of 2024 and has since earned the titles of reclaim queen, and pug mill whisperer - all of the reclaim used around the studio is thanks to her! In addition to processing all of our clay waste, Myki helps out at the studio by cleaning, loading kilns, and water plants (among many other things!). She has her degree from St. Edwards University, where she spent time working as a studio tech in their ceramics studio.
